BYLAW CASES

Bylaw prosecutions in the Magistrate's Court yesterday were dealt with by Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M. Mr. A. R. Cooper prosecuted. Fines of £2 and costs for exceeding the 30 miles an hour limit, were imposed on Paul Ewen Marshall, Henry William Curtis, Eric Bellman, Frederick Rex Bartley, David Ardrey, and John Mclvor. For the same offence, Frederick William Pethybridge. was fined 30s and costs, and Gerald Leslie Lohrey was convicted and discharged. Leonard Beavis was fined a total of 20s and costs for failing to obtain a warrant of fitness and for having a defective silencer.

Parking offences cost Stephen Glanville Cowles, Ray Miller, William Monks, Kathleen Watson, Norman Perry, and Richard Petley-each 10s and costs.

For travelling in the wrong direction in a one-way street, Phillip Churcher and Robert Grono were each fined' 10s and costs.

Paul Rabone, for whom Mr. T. P. McCarthy appeared, was convicted and ordered to pay costs for allowing animals to be at large on a public reserve.

Young Bing, who was also represented by Mr. McCarthy, was convicted and ordered to pay costs for failing to signal his intention to turn. Robert Archibald was fined £1 and costs for allowing stock to wander.
