RUGBY TRIALS
CHOICE OF PLAYERS
SHOULD BE MADE SHORTLY
As supplementary nominations .of players for the New Zealand Rugby trials are due on the day of the Wei-llngton-Wairarapa match in Wellington (June 30), it is likely that some of the? New Zealand selectors will be here for that match, Moreover, as the North-South match; the first ot the trials, Js to be J played, ten days later, it would seem that the Waira-rapa-Wellington match is tbe most suitable occasion for the selectors to select the players to assemble in Wellington for the series ot special matches,
There are to be other representative matches—HawWs Bay v. Poverty Bay, Thames Valley; v. WalKato,; and Buller v, West Coast—on July 8, and these aro not. likely to be neglected by the New Zealand selectors, However, to delay the selection of players for the Inter-island match on July 10 until after those matches would possibly not give sufficient time for some players to arrange for. the visit to Wellington. The list of players nominated from Wellington is" not to be takw\ as final. The local selector and., his assistants will be making a close study of, form again in tomorrow's matches, and several of the players in the AthletlcPoneke match at Athletic Fark will probably come in for special notice,
