MANUFACTURE OF FOOTBAUS
(By Telegrapii—Pyeas Association,) AUCKLAND, Tills Day,
The detrimental effect of the Importation of footballs, from such countries as India, ou firms in Now Zealand, which have specialised in their manufacture, has, been brought under the notice of the Minister of Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) by an Auckland manufacturer, He states that his output of footballs has dropped from approximately 9000 last year to 2000 this season. Fortunately he has been able to divert his staff to other branches of leather work, primarily aa the result of the demand for travelling requisites for Coronation tours. There Is a possibility, however, that this increased demand for other leather goods may not be sustained, He points out that in India there is no limit on hours of work and the workers receive small wages, and asks tha Minister to take action,
