The Minister of Railways has invited the guests at the ceremony to morning tea in the station at the conclusion of the official ceremony. However, as the dining-room on the ground floor is not large enough to accommodate all the guests, it will be necessary for morning tea to be also served in the social rooms on the fifth floor and the seating tickets forwarded to guests indicate this.
As only one lift is available from the entrance hall where, the guests will be assembled, it will be desirable for those who are able to do so to use the stairway (immediately opposite the lift) for the purpose of reaching the social rooms and the upper floors when inspecting the building after the function.
At 11.22 a.m. today, the Fire Brigade received a call to attend a fire in a wash-house at .14 McFarland Street, owned by Mr. K. J. Mack. The fire waSj quickly extinguished and little damage was done.
