DOG TRIALS
SOUTH ISLAND MEETING

BLENHEIM, This Day.
After two and a half days the first event in the South Island collie dog trials was completed early this afternoon. The entry totalled 84 dogs. The weather was brilliant on the first day, cold and showery yesterday, and fine but overcast today. The New Zealand championship meeting will follow completion of the South Island events.
The first event, the South Island Championship heading, bringing back, and holding in ring (possible points 60), resulted: R. J. Wiffen (Dannevirke), Bet, 57* points, 1; W. Whyte (Napier), Boy, 57 points, 2; R. M. Wilson (Kirwee), Fly, 55 points, 3; G. McMillan (Waipawa), Stan, 54.J- points, 4; E. Rutherford (Waikari). Speed, 54 points, 5; J. Mead (.Nelson), Bill Bailey, 53J points, 6; M. A. Mathioson (Middlemarch), Scot, 52J points, 7. These dogs qualify to contest the New Zealand championship.
