PROVINCIAL STATUS

NORTH AUCKLAND AIM

UNANIMOUS DECISION

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

WHANGAREI, This Day

A unanimous decision favouring provincial status for Northland was reached at the annual conference of North Auckland Chambers of Commerce at Kawakawa yesterday. The proposed boundaries of the territory are the southern extremities of Rodney County.

With a view to attaining the desired end representatives of each chamber pledged themselves to place the facts before the local bodies in their districts and seek support for the proposal. The chambers will bring before members within three months a suitable name for the proposed new province.

The move originated at the previous conference of Associated Chambers of Commerce at Kaitaia and since then meetings have been held in various centres to discuss the project.
