MANGERE AERODROME
HOUSING OF BIG MACHINE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, This Day.
Preparations for landing the Union Airways aeroplane on a test flight from Wellington at 3 o'clock today were still proceeding at Mangere early this afternoon. A large party of men from the Public Works Department were working all the morning preparing a scoria runway from the landing field to the hangar. "
Owing to rain the partially-com-pleted runway was somewhat of a quagmire and there were doubts whether the large machine could be housed tonight. An alternative plan was to take the machine to the military aerodrome at Hobsonvillc. However, early this afternoon the officials stated that the runway would be completed in time for reception of the aeroplane.
