LONDON DISCUSSIONS

IMPERIAL COMMUNICATIONS

(Received June 17, 11.45 a.m.)

LONDON, June 16.

A meeting was held at Australia House today tfetween the Federal Treasurer, Mr. R. G. Casey, the High Commissioner, Mr. S. M. Bruce, the Director-General of Posts and Telegraphs in Australia, and Mr. Clive Baillieu, managing director of Austral Development, Ltd., in connection with Imperial communications.

Several earlier meetings had been hold between representatives of Britain and the Dominions arising out of the financial pqsition of Cables and Wireless, Ltd., as it affects the British and Dominion Governments, and the discussions are expected to proceed /or several weeks.

There is not the slightest foundation for reports to the effect that the Governments are likely to take complete control of operating companies in the Dominion*.
