EXCHANGE OF VIEWS
QUESTIONS OF COMMON
INTEREST
(Grltlst) Official Wireless.)
RUGBY, June 15.
It is announced that the German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baron yon Neurath, will visit London on June 23 as the official guest of the British Government. It is stated that no negotiations are under contemplation, but that it is hoped his visit will offer the opportunity for an exchange of views on questions of common interest to the two countries, and particularly on the Spanish problem. It is about 18 months since the German Foreign Minister last visited London, on the occasion of the funeral of King George V. There has been no chance since then for contacts between Baron yon Neurath and the British Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, although in the interval both have been in personal touch with the Foreign Ministers of other European Powers and visits have also been paid to Paris by the German Minister of Economy, Dr. H. Schacht. It may be assumed, therefore, that advantage will be taken of the approaching visit for conversations in which the international outlook will be comprehensively, but informally, reviewed. No doubt particular reference will be made to the position in Spain, especially in the light of i lastweek's decision of the four Naval Powers on the security of units of fleets on patrol in Spanish waters. Another subject which will almost certainly come under review is the future of negotiations on the Western Pact, which has been the subject of diplomatic exchanges in recent months. The French Government has been informed of Baron yon Neurath's impending visit to London.
