PRINCESS JULIANA'S COMING
EVENT
AMSTERDAM, June 16,
Princess Juliana, heiress to the throne of ihe Netherlands, broadcasting a message thanking the people of Amsterdam for their reception, said:
"I shall be unable to attend all the festivities which have been arranged, owing—and I am particularly pleased to announce this myself—to the condition of my health."
The "Daily Mail," London, reported on May 25 that Princess Juliana was to cease public engagements. The Dutch Court was hoping that she would give birth to an heir-presump-tive towards the end of the year.
Although the Admiralty survey ship H.M.S. Endeavour will be operating in New Zealand waters for a considerable time her officers will live on board, states the "New Zealand Herald." Officers on the ships of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy do not have to live on board all the time, and have homes ashore, but the Endeavour will spend so much time at sea that this practice will not be followed by her officers.
