GUARANTEED PRICE
REPORT AWAITEO
The committee that has been assigned the task of computing and recommending to the Government a guaranteed price for dairy produce for the coming new season is not yet in a position to report to the Government, said the Acting Minister of Marketing (the Hon. W. L. Martin) in an interview yesterday. The Minister said that the committee -was awaiting the complete returns of the dairying year from the various dairy factories. The balance-sheets were prepared by the various factories at different dates, and the first of those balance-sheets, that of the Hikurangi factory, appeared last week. "The report and recommendation of the committee, when ready, will be considered by Cabinet," added the Minister. "The Government has, however, already adopted the recommendation of the committee that in fixing the price for cheese, it should be so computed as to allow, in the case of the averagely efficient cheese factory, an effective advantage in the pay-out to suppliers of 2d per lb of butterfat supplied."
