GENERALLY FIRM

LIVESTOCK VALUES

SMALLER OFFERINGS

Prices for both sheep and cattle were generally satisfactory to sellers at the livestock sales held in the Dominion this week. Entries were inclined to be smaller than usual at Addington and the market generally was good. Beef was quoted firm at Westfield, last week's improved rates being maintained. The ox yarding was again short, but the cow pens were well filled. Quality was fair. Only a moderate entry of sheep was auctioned under keen demand, the sale improving towards the close. Wethers improved by as much as 2s a head, and prime ewes by 4s. Quality was average. More lambs were sold at very firm quotations, the quality being satisfactory. An increased offering of calves included a better choice of quality, and although the extreme rates of a week ago were not reached values were satisfactory. Strong competition produced high values for prime baconers, and other pigs sold freely at fully late quotations. WAIRARAPA VALUES.
