NEWTOWN CLUB
The increase in the numbers of men playing bowls is indicated in the annual report of the Newtown Bowling Club, which will be presented to a meeting of members on June 30. The Newtown Club received seventeen new members during last season, and if this increase is kept up in the future the club will soon be up to full strength. Thr> total niembership of the club Is now 86, of whom 82 are playing memWork was carried out during the season to make the club's property as up to date as possible, but the expenditure involved did not affect the sound financial position of the club. Members took pii active part in all competitions The Hill Pins were held for six games, and the Edwin Feathers were won for the season. In me centre's c!iampion-of-champions rinks competition, .J. M. Porter, P. f O'Connor, C. Webster, and W. Lewis secured th* honours for the club, and the club competitions resulted as iojlov/s:—Singles and Telford Cup,. C. Webster; club rinks, the team given above, except that G. Recs played I,\ spile of thd bad weathdr conditions experienced the green was kept in excellent condition, and club members were frequently congratulated by visitors on its good playing surface. , After occupying tho office ot president for five years. Mr. -T. M. Porter is not seeking re-election. Mr. G. W. Booth has been nominated for me office. • . ;
