GALSWORTHY'S "ESCAPE."
Wellington theatre-goers are to have an opportunity shortly to see a stage performance of John Galsworthy's iamous play, "Escape," which, so far has been seen only on the screen This is, perhaps, the most exciting of all Galsworthy's plays, and is one of his greatest achievements. The plot is built up by a series of episodes, each almost a complete one-act play in itself, but each with the central character of the fugitive from justice. The excitement and suspense increase with each incident. Delightful touches of humour relieve the strain of the chase, for some of the minor characters are conceived in a sense of rich cornedv while remaining true to life. The play will be presented by the Wellington Repertory Theatre at the Concert Chamber next month, when Mr. R. E. Pope will be seen as Matt Denant, the part played by Sir Gerald dv Maurier in the film. Mr. W. S. Wauchop is the producer.
