KHANDALLAH THESPIANS
The second open night of the season <j£ lhe Khandallah Thespian Society A/as held in the local parish hall on Monday. Delightfully-rendered glees were given by the glee club, trained by Mrs. Jack, and two artificially contrasting pianoforte solos played by Miss Winnie Burke received special applause. Three one-act plays were read by the active members of the club—"When the Bells Rang," "Five Characters in Search of an Author," and "Alison's Lad." The last play, which had a full male cast, was a difficult play, and was read particularly well.
Mrs. Oilier (president of the club) welcomed the honorary members and guests, and supper was enjoyed.
Mrs. M. B. Eowe (Wellington) will spend a short time in London before visiting the Midlands and other places of note. She is combining business with pleasure on this tour, which will extend until August 14. Mrs. Howe is another New Zealander who pays tribute to the welcome which she received at New Zealand House, "the officials there make one feel quite at home and happy."
