HERE AND THERE
"Kitchen Tea."
A very enjoyable evening was spent by a large number of friends recently when Mrs. V. Peck, jun., and Miss J. Routley were hostesses at a "kitchen tea" in honour of Miss J. Perno, whose marriage will take place early next month. Dancing in the drawing-room and community singing before a log fire occupied most of the evening. A delicious home-made supper Of savouries and' dainties was served in the dining-room. Miss J. Routley and Miss J. Panozzo, the two.bridesmaids-to-be, helped- Miss Perno to open the many packages containing useful gifts brought by the guests. Miss J. Perno wore black figured celanese with velvet coatee* Miss J. Routley, green cloque; Miss P. Panozzo, blue cloque; and Mrs. V. Peck black georgette. Among others present were Mr. and Mrs. Perno, Mr. and Mrs. Peck, Mrs. Morrison, Misses B. Davis, V. Peck, N. Peck, B. Adams, C. De La Hune, N. Harker, T. Routley; and Messrs. A. Stevenson, A. Robinson, C. Perno, A. Perno, D. Peck, V. Peck, L. Morrison, M. Devine, S. Cacace-Biggs, B. Taylor, J. Bramble, J. Lambert, H. Morrison, A. Morrison, A; DbraijY sen., A. Doran, J. Clarke, and A.' Eales. Lyall Bay Croquet Club. The annual meeting of the Lyall Bay Croquet Club was held in the Lyall Bay Bowling Pavilion. There was almost a full attendance and the report showed the club to be in a good financial position. Mrs. Rudkin (past president) was unanimously elected to the chair. There were two resignations and two new members accepted. The election of officers for the year resulted as follows: —President, Mrs. Rudkin; vice-president, Mrs. Pedersen; secretary, Mrs. Beard; captain, Mrs. Tasker; vice-captain, Mrs. Rudkin; committee, Mesdames McKenzie, Durrant, and Martin; tea convener, Mrs. Bell; and delegates to the association, Mesdames Rudkin and Tasker. Happy Dance. A large and happy crowd danced beneath clusters of gay balloons at the Peter Pan Cabaret on Tuesday night, when the Auckland Diocesan High School Old Girls' League held its annual dance, states the "New Zealand Herald." Tubs of green and blue hydrangeas flanked the entrance to the ballroom, where red, white, and blue streamers gave colour to the dance floor. The college shield held pride of place on the orchestral dais, and badges in the school colours of blue and white were placed at the entrances to the cubicles. The tables in the supper room were decorated, with vases of yellow syringa, yellow and orange poppies and greenery. ' ■-■.-..
