REPERTORY THEATRE
SUCCESSFUL YEAR
The annual report of the Wellington Repertory Theatre shows that after ten years of existence the society's affairs are in a very healthy state. The membership, which at the beginning of last year was 702, is now 896, and in view of the limited capacity of the Town Hall Concert Chamber, the only hall available for the production of plays, it is deemed advisable to limit membership. The plays produced last season were "Richard of Bordeaux," "The Silver Box," "The Mask and the Face, "Hedda Gabler," "Peter Pan," and "Eden End." Over twenty one-act plays have also been produced at the society s social evenings, and some thirty play readings were held. The first Hepertory Arts ball was held during the year, and this in future is to be an annual event. The financial position of the society, the report states, has been further strengthened during the year,, the excess of income over expenditure being a little over £300.
