NEW LINKS AT TITAHI
ANOTHER CLUB FORMED
At a meeting held at the Accountants' Chambers it was decided to form a golf club to play on links at present being constructed on. the Marshall estate at Titahi-Bay. A provisional committee was elected.
The links consisted of five of the holes formerly used by the Titahi Bay Golf Club, said the chairman, Mr: C. Stone, and the remainder of the course was over the road on undulating country ideally suited for golf. Fourteen holes would be available for play within three weeks.
Mr. R. h. Macalister, representing Mr. Marshall, said the the new links had been laid out and the ground was in good order for golf. Mr. Marshall suggested that the rental should be £150 for the first year, £300 for the second year, £450 for the third year, and £500 a year thereafter, with a ten years' tenure, and right of renewal of the lease. The owner of the estate claimed the right to graze sheep on the links, but to help the club was prepared to erect a clubhouse at his own expense, and also to keep a man on developmental work at his expense until Christmas. Mr. Stone moved that a new golf club should be formed to take over the links. This was seconded by Mr. N. M. Thompson and carried. The meeting was adjourned until Wednesday.
