SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

An extensive and complex though fairly shallow depression has been crossing tho Dominion and the weather has been unsettled with dull, misty conditions and rain in most districts. Heavy falls have occurred at a few places, and snow has been reported on some of the ranges in tho South Island. North-west to westerly breezes have continued over tho northern portion of the North Island, while elsewhere winds which yesterday were between north-east and south-east had by this moraine become more generally southerly. They have been strong at times in uarts of the central districts but otherwise mainly light to moderate in forco.
