THEFT OF SHOES
"Stealing from a workmate is regarded as a very unpleasant and improper thing- to do," said Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today to a waitress aged 22, whose name was ordered to be suppressed. The defendant pleaded guilty to the theft, on April 29, of a pair of shoes valued at 15s. Detective-Sergeant P. Doyle said that a pair of shoes left in the staff room of a restaurant where the defendant'was employed disappeared. Subsequently the accused was^seen wearing them. The defendant was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. She was ordered to make restitution of 15s.
