HONEY CROP
INCREASED DEMAND
The unfavourable weather experienced last summer had reduced the New Zealand honey crop, Mr. W. W. Nelson, chairman of directors of New Zealand Honey, Ltd., told delegates to the National Beekeepers' Conference today, and the weather had also reduced the supplies of jam fruits, thus causing an increased demand for honey. The shortage of honey had been met by the importation of a limited quantity, and the installation of new plant had led to the production of processed honey being trebled. Mr^Nelson dealt with the proposals of the Government regarding the honey market, as outlined by the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. Lee Martin) yesterday, and concluded by saying he believed the producers could look forward to the future with confidence.
