HANNAH ESTATE

PROPERTIES AT AUCTION

NO SALES MADE

Prospective buyers' ideas of value did not coincide with the ideas of the Public Trustee, and not a single lot in the sale of properties belonging to the estate of the late Mr. Robert Hannah reached the reserve price at yesterday afternoon's auction. This was one of the most important property auctions held recently, and it attracted a large number of the public. But there were only a few actual bidders for the 28 separate properties, which were offered in 13 lots by Messrs. Harcourt and Nathan in conjunction. "Antrim House," in Boulcott Street, the 16-roomed residence of the late Mr. Hannah, with over half an acre of ground, elicited an initial bid of £QOO, and was passed in at £8700. "Glenmore," also in Boulcott Street, was passed in at £2450, and a vacant section adjoining it at £1150. Three Moxham Avenue properties failed to bring a bid of more than a trifle over £1200 for each of them; an acre in Khandallah, facing Cashmere Avenue and Tennis Court Koad, was passed in at £330, and there was no bid at all for another Khandallah 'Section of about half an acre.

A block on the south side of the lower part of Abel Smith Street, just off Taranaki Street, had £4000 bid for it, but this did not reach the reserve price. A block of six shops in Jackson Street, Petone, with two five-roomed houses in Fitzherbert Street, was passed in at £4250, and an Otaki business block of five shops was bid for up to £1185.
