THE LATE J. E. GAMBLE

A large and representative gathering attended the funeral today of Mr. John Edward Gamble, whose death occurred on Tuesday night. The accommodation at St. Anne's Church, Newtown, for the Requiem Mass, was taxed to the utmost. The celebrant was the Rev. Father Walsh, and there were twenty priests in attendance. Hymns were sung by the children of St. Anne's Convent.

The pall-bearers were Messrs. J. Carmody (son-in-law), W. B. Gamble, N. McGurk, B. Leydon (nephews of the deceased), B. A. Guise, and H. Jullivan. The large number who attended at the church included representatives of the Wellington Harbour Board, former members of the staff of the board, legal profession, Public Service, business community, Wellington Eugby Union, and other sports bodies.

The service at the graveside at Karori Cemetery was conducted by Arch-Priest KelJy.
