ROVER MOOT

GATHERING AT MASTERTON

(By Telegraph—Press Associ.it.icn.)

MASTERTON, March 28.

About 100 Rovers from all parts of New Zealand are attending the second Dominion Rover Moot, which is being held at Lansdowne, and which will break up tomorrow. On Good Friday evening, the Mayor (Mr. T. Jordan), who was accompanied by Mrs. Jordan, officially opened the Moot. He extended a warm welcome to the visitors, and in a brief address stressed the value of the Rover movement in developing good citizenship.

A highly interesting lecture on "A River's Duty to the State," was. given by Professor G. W. yon Zedlitz in the Masterton Golf Club's clubhouse, which was kindly made available for the occasion. A campfire was also held, all the crews contributing items. Yesterday the Rovers tramped to Mt. Te Mara, and a dance was held in the evening. Today a "Rovers' Own" service was held, and discussions on Rover matters took place. In the afternoon the Moot was open to visitors.

The Moot is in charge of Sir Ronald Clarke-Hall, of Christchurch,' and Rover-Leader G. L. Thomas, of Masterton, is deputy camp chief. Other officials include:—Treasurer, A.R.S.L. J. C. Robinson; Moot scribe, A.R.S.L. McDonald; camp wallah, Rover N. Flaws; quartermaster-sergeant, 8.M., C. Wylie. Commissioner Vogel, of Lower Hutt, was a visitor on Good Friday, and Scouter P. Smilhers, of Lower Hutt, a prominent Rover supporter, is attending the Moot.
