"MY MAN GODFREY."

Coming to the St. Junes.

"My Man Godfrey," the new Universal picture coming to the St. James ' Theatre on Friday next, is a brilliant modern romantic comedy,' starring William Powell and Carole Lombard. The situations mount rapidly to a pitch of gay humour, which keeps climbing the scale until the contagious fun has reached an epidemic of laughter. The most earthbound pessimist will be' a mirthbound optimist after seeing "My Man Godfrey." William Powell por- , trays the role of a butler who does his best to buttle, in spite of bottles and | battle-axes, for the nuttiest family in . America. Carole Lombard, playing the part of the younger daughter, falls in love with him and proposes marriage. She just won't take "No" for an answer. Her sister is the sort of girl who would stick pins in puppies just to hear them howl. The mother of the menage is a bit balmy and the father, is slightly' dizzy, from trying to straighten out all the members of his household. However, they're all very nice people. Besides the stars, there are Alice Brady, Gail Patrick, Jean Dixon, Eugene Pallette, Alan Mowbray, Mischa Aver, and Robert* Light. The picture was made by Gregory La Cava, who has a dozen outstanding hits to his credit. '-'My Man Godfrey" is taken from the novel' of the - same name by Eric Hatch.
