TE ARO SCHOOL DANCE

SUCCESSFUL EFFORT

! A thoroughly successful dance and social was held on Saturday evening •by . tho Tc Aro •Home and School Association in the schoolroom. The dance, whip.h was promoted for the children^ Christmas party funds, was organised by Mr. H. W. Chirm. A large number of parents, old scholars, and friends attended, and a happy time was spent by all present.

The dance committee comprised Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Plackett, Mi\ and Mrs. McNamara, Mr. and Mrs. E. Howley, I Mr. G. A. Vincent (M.C.) and • Mrs. .Vincent, Mrs. G. .E. Whiterod, Mrs. L. 'Tennant, sen., and Mr. H. S. Tennant. . The "Monte Carlo" competition was won by Mrs. H. Hawk and Mr. J. Logic, and the lucky spot by Miss F. Cowan and Mr. T. Lord. Two well-executed exhibitions of the tap and skipping dances were given by Valeric Jackman, and were much appreciated. The guest of honour, Mr. C. H. Chapman, M.P., said that he was pleased to see the progress that the Home and School Association was making in its difficult task of improving the school grounds. He assured the members that.they would receive the utmost help from the Government, which would provide the scholars with good grounds. The roll had advanced from 450- to 700. he stated, and as such a large number attended he hoped that the Christmas festivities being arranged for the pupils would be a success;
