The tea market at Ceylon this week was strong, according to private advices received in Wellington, common teas being id a lb dearer, arid-medium and better grades Jd to Sd a lb dearer. Quality continues to be irregular, and smaller supplies are coming to hand. The Calcutta and . London markets were steady. . .

Wright has received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of October 6:—At yesterday's tea auction of 1,250.0001b. common teas advanced I to 2 cents, low medium teas 2 to 4 cents, ; and ■ good teas 3 to 5 cents, while fine teas declined. The quality of the offerings showed a iall-ing-off. ... . .
