BERLIN, October 2.
Sharp comment on Britain's "land hunger" was published in "Der Angriff," the leading Nazi organ, but it was withdrawn in the later editions.
The article referred to the Conservative Party's resolution regarding mandated territories and reported the intention of Australia to "annex the Antarctic." It also contrasted Australia's population of less than one per square kilometre with Germany's 139 and Italy's 153 per square kilometre. .
On October 1 the Conservative Party Conference at Margate enthusiastically adopted a resolution urging the Government to reaffirm Sir John Simon's earlier' intimation to Germany that the return of mandates is a question that cannot be discussed.
On August 22 it was reported from Canberra that a proclamation was to be issued bringing into operation an Act passed by the Commonwealth Parliament in 1533 providing for the acceptance by the Commonwealth of an area of 3,0t)0,000 square miles in th° Antarctic to be known in future as the Australian Antarctic Territory. This territory comprises all islands and territories except the French dependency of Adelie Land, situated south of the 60th degree of south latitude and between the 160 th and 45th degrees of east longitude.
