JAPANESE SHIPS
SERVICES TO RESUME
AUSTRALIA AND N.Z.

TOKIO, October 2.
The Osaka Shosen Kaisha is to rer establish its direct line to Australia on October 25 with the Canberra Maru and the Tokyo Maru, and that to New Zealand on October 28 with the Sydney Maru, the Melbourne Maru, and the Brisbane Maru.
Officials of the Osaka Shosen Kaisha stated that they had decided to reestablish the service to Australia because it was anticipated that Australia and Japan would reach an agreement at an early date and that this would be followed by a resumption of trade relations. : •
On July 22 a Melbourne cable stated that owing to the serious effect of the tariff restrictions on trade between Australia and Japan the Osaka Shosen Kaisha Line had decided to abandon for the time being its plans to run a direct service between Japan and New Zealand.
