THE FLAX INDUSTRY.

Favourable prospects for the development of the flax-milling industry in the Whakatane district were reported by Mr. H. A. Bunn, New Zealand representative of Associated Fibre Millers, Limited, on his return from Wellington. Mr. Bunn interviewed members of the House with regard to the early operation of the industry in the company's mill at Whakatane. An official opening will take place early this-month, when a Minister and members of the House of Representatives are expected to be present. The company has already engaged over. 30 hands', .and hopes to have 80 men employed by the New Year.
