CATTLE FAIR
KEEN INTEREST AT FEILDING

FEILDING, October 2. At the annual cattle fair today, the yarding comprised ■ 3500 head and attracted buyers from a very wire area. Keen interest was shown in all departments of the sale. Young station.cattle, especially P.A., sold at prices; which experts considered on the high but older cattle were inclined to be sticky though fetching good prices. Young steer! found the readiest market. Dairy cattle were not in such good condition as previous entries, consequently prices showed a decline. The fat cattle were chiefly female beef which advanced in price to about 26s per 1001b. Fat ewes of first class and quality were up 2s per head on last week, but inferior ewes were not wanted..* at wethers and hoggets made previous rates. Store sheep sold well with a very firm demand for hoggets. Store Cattle.—P.A. lines, yearling steers, £5 15s to £7 13s; two-year steers, £7 Is to £8 10s; three-year steers, £8 to £9 6s; three and four year bullocks, £9 15s; four and five year bullocks, £9 7s 6d to £10; four' year bullocks, £9 Is; heifers, £6 to £0 12s 6d; particularly good pen of cows, £4 7s 6d to £8 7s 6d; Hereford lines, yearling steers, £5 16s; two-year steers, £5 9s to £6 Is; three-year, £7 13s to £8; Shorthorn two-year steers,'£ a 15s; heifers. £3 Is; R.P. cows, £7 15s; potter cows, to £3 4s; Jersey cows, forward condition, to £4 10s; yearling Jersey steers, £3 to £4. Dairy Cattle.—Springing heifers, forward condition, £5 10s to £6 ss; late calvers, from £3 10s; springing cows, forward condition, £5 15s to £6 10s; late calvers, from £3 7s 6d to £5 10s. Fat Cattle.—Prime Shorthorn cows, £7 12s 6d to £8 12s 6d; P.A. heifers and cows, prime, £8 10s to £B_l7s; Hereford cows, light prime, to £0 ss. Fat Sheep.—Prime heavy ewes, 32s 5d to 33s 7d; light prime, 24s to .29s 8d; inferior, from 20s 6d; prime wethers, 35s 6d to 37s 9d; light prime, 28s 6d to 33s 7d; prime hoggets, to 27s 7d; light, from 21s; b.f.s, 245. Store Sheep.—Wether hoggets, attractive lines, 24s to 26s 6d; otrTers, from 14s 7d; b.f. hoggets, 21s 6d to 24s sd; ewe hoggets, good pens, to 38s lOd; others, from 26s 3d; ewes and lambs, all counted, 17s to 18s Id. Poultry—Hens, Is 9d to 2s 9d; pullets, 4s; ducks, 2s 4d to 2s 6d; cockerels, Is 9d to 2s 6d. Pigs.—Large entry, prices slightly easier. Weaners, best. 15s to 17s; others, 7s 6d to 15s; slips, 15s to 20s 6d; stores, 15s 6d to 255; porkers, 30s to 395; small porkers, 28s.
