MAN'S SKULL FRACTURED

Four motor accidents, involving injuries'to five people, occurred about Wellington during the weekend. When he came off his motor-cycle on the Main Road, Lower Hutt, about 5.55 a.m. yesterday, F. Firmston, an employee at the Hutt Workshops, of 28 Central Terrace, Lower Hutt, suffered a fracture of the base of his skull. After receiving medical attention! he was taken by the Free Ambulance to hospital, where his condition, though still serious, was today reported to be better. A fractured right leg was received by Claude Cotton, a radio engineer, of 19 Rodney Street, Lower Hutt, when the motor-cycle he was riding came into collision with a motor-car at 11.25 a.m. yesterday. He was taken from Titahi Bay, where the accident occurred, to hospital by the Free Ambulance. A collision between a motor-cycle and a car at the corner of Coutts and Yule Streets, Kilbirnie, on Saturday resulted in E. Gunson, a cutter, of 14 Douglas Street, the rider of the motorcycle, injuring his thigh. He was removed to hospital, by the Free Ambulance. In the early hours of Sunday morning, a motpr-car ran off the^road near Porirua. The Free Ambulance received a call, but the two people who were injured were taken to hospital in a private car. Miss H. Lithgow was admitted to the hospital at 1.30. a.m. suffering from shock and bruises, but was able to go home yesterday.
