GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSALS
SECOND READING CARRIED
AMENDMENTS, IN COMMUTES
The second reading stage of the Mortgagors and Lessees Rehabilitation Bill ■was completed in the House of Representatives at an early hour this morning. Opposition members opposed the motion of the Prime Minister (the lit. Hon. M. J. Savage) that the second reading should be. accorded urgency, but the Government won the day by 36 ' voles to 10. The second reading was carried without division, the Minister of Finance (the Hon W. Nash) intimating that there would be amendments proposed during the Committee stage. ,
