A SYDNEY OFFER
TO BRITISH TEAMS
An anonymous offer of a trophy valued at £500 has tjeuu mane to the New South Wales Soccer Association for a series of matches between English and Scottish professional teams during the 150 th anniversary celebrations in Sydney (says a Sydney correspondent).
This announcement was made by Mr. Sid Grant, president of the New South Wales State League Soccer Association. He added that the proposal that two such teams should be brought to Australia would be considered at an early meeting of the committee controlling the 150 th anniversary celebrations.
It was also stated that Mr. Sid Storey, manager of the Australian Soccer team in New Zealand, was making inquiries there regarding moves to induce an English teani to visit the Dominion next year. In the event of success attending the New Zealand efforts, negotiations for an extension of the visit to Australia will be entered into by the Australian Soccer Association.
