OUT IN THE RAIN

"Today it is bleak and raining, wetting, wintry rain. Nevertheless we decided to go for a walk, so attired ready to face the elements, we departed. Myriads of scurrying riverlets chased each other down the narrow road; every leaf and blade dripped tears. Soon we left the road and climbed a gate—a five-barred one too!— and then plunged down a rough track into the bush. It was beautiful here, but incredibly wet. The wind sent raindrops from the dripping leaves spattering into our faces and down our necks. The stream which in summer comes wimpling over the pebbles was now a gushing torrent, with the rumble of rocks grinding in its bed. There were gossamer cobwebs spangled with glimmering drops, hanging on the ferns. Scarlet toadstools and vivid green moss alone seemed to appreciate the excess of moisture." "NEMO" (14). Khandallah.
