FORTY-HOUR WEEK

WELLINGTON CELEBRATION : In view, of the divergence of views of members as to what would be most fitting for the occasion and the possibility of others'coming forward with additional suggestions, the Wellington Trades and Labour Council has deemed it expedient to call a special'meeting for the purpose of discussing the form the celebration of the inauguration of the 40-hour week on September 1 should take. This decision was made at the meeting of the council last night. The secretary (Mr. F. D. Cornwell) stated today that the council is calling a meeting for Thursday afternoon next! and that representatives are to be invited from the New Zealand Labour Party, the Labour Representation Committee, and other national industrial organisations.
