DAVISTOCK BACK

SILK SOX FOR SOUTH

(Special from "Hurry On.")

NEW PLYMOUTH, July 15.

The New Plymouth tracks were in good order for training operations yesterday morning when all the galloping took place en the course proper with the flags out about 35ft. Though few of the local horses nave any immediate engagements the trainers are already preparing their charges for the Combined Hunts Meeting at New Plymouth at the end of next month.

Clessamor did an easy working gallop over five furlongs. He was not out to make time but bowled along freely.. Tomoana was much too good for Carleaf oyer half a mile in . 55jsec. Tomoana worked attractively, but Carleaf stopped over the last 100 yards. Davistock, who has been recommissioried by R. Johnson, did easy pace work on the inside grass. He is looking bright and well. Calshot, who appears none the worse for his racing at Trentham, was let off with art easy task. .. :,■

Fersen and Brilliancy jumped off at the mile and a quarter peg, but after going five furlongs were allowed to ease-up and completed the circuit at an easy three-quarter pace. Both horses worked attractively. From the manner in which, he is working Brilliancy appears likely to stay on.

Though Script did not put quite the same dash into his efforts as he did on Saturday, he gave a satisfactory disI'hy -ovfir six hurdles. , The hunter Money Boy was allotted a similar task, jumping safely and very big. Lady Kyra and Bonny Glow were given easy pace work. They have been absentees from the tracks for some considerable time, but have been worked on the beach. Both are in splendid condition for their spring preparations; ■■"'■■■■- : . . : Silk Sox and Mustang came through their racing at Trentham in good style. This pair are engaged at Riccarton, and though Silk Sox is almost certain to make the trip it is doubtful at present -.whether Mustang will accompany him.
