RUGBY, July 13.
The excellent record for the safet} of British railways, unequalled anywhere in the world, was maintained 'last year, as is shown by the annual report of the chief traffic officer today.
Accidents were almost at the same low level as in previous years The majority of these accidents are attrir buted to lack of caution by the travelling public. In these accidents, the numbers of passengers killed and injured last year were 13 and 408 re* spectively. The thirteen deaths occurred in one accident, namely, the collision at Welwyn Garden City, and the number compares with seven for the previous five years. Cases of injury show an appreciable decrease compared with the numbers for the pas' five years.
