POWER OF SPEECH
ADDRESS TO WOMEN
The Brooklyn group of the Women's Social Progress Movement met again recently, the group president, Mrs. Nicholson, presiding over a good attendance of members and friends. Miss Mary McLean, C.8.E., Dominion president of the movement,, was present, together with representatives from the Wellington City central group. The officers for the ensuing year were elected, Miss McLean taking the chair. The retiring committee was reelected, and the following officers also were re-elected unopposed: President, Mrs. H. Nicholson; secretary, Mrs. Bruce Cade; and treasurer, Mrs. P. Gourley. Miss Howden was granted extended leave of absence to enable her to take a trip overseas. Mrs. G. L. Stewart, the speaker, chose as her subject, "The Power of the Spoken Word." The lecturer quoted the words of his late Majesty King George V, and that inspiring character, Abraham Lincoln, who earned for him-
