MAHMOUD'S LAST SEASON
The Aga Khan has decided to- send his latest Derby winner Mahmoud to the stud at the close of the present season. He will go to the Egerton Stud at Newmarket, where Bahrain, last year's triple crown winner, is now standing at a fee of 500 guineas. It is not yet known what fee Mahmoud will command, but it is safe to assume that it will be smaller than.that fixed for Bahrain.
The Aga Khan is a-firrri believer in the policy of withdrawing a first-class performer from training at the end of his three-year-old career. He points out that many of the greatest sires, including St. Simon and Blandford, did not run after they were three years old.
