THEFT OF OVERCOAT
FINE OF £20 ' Arrested by the Lower Hutt police on Saturday, Thomas Hamilton a Maori, was charged at the Lower Hutt Court before Messrs. M. J. Hodgins and A. J. Gearing, today with the theft of an overcoat valued at 30s, the property of Frank P. Hardy, a nurseryman, of High Street.' ' Mr. Hardy gave evidence that ne had missed the coat early in May, and had recognised it on the accused last Saturday. Hamilton, who pleaded not guilty, was fined £20, or three months' lmPr ' I'Thenaccused,"1'The n accused," said Sergeant J. W. McHolm, "is a habitual criminal who is ' at present^n^relief^on^Ucence.
