HOROWHENUA HOCKEY

SUCCESSFUL SEASON

ASSOCIATION MEETING

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

OTAKI. This Day.

A move to change the headquarters from Otaki to Levin was discussed at the annual meeting of the Horowhenua Hockey Association on Tuesday night, Mr. H. Nicolson. president, presiding over an attendance of delegates representing Paraparaumu, Otaki (2), Bahui, Ohau, Levin (ladies and men), and Shannon. It was'decided by a large majority to retain the headquarters at Otaki, it being recognised that splendid work had been done there..

It was agreed to give hockey in Levin every encouragement, and a suggestion that several representative matches be played there was agreed upon, although it was pointed out that on some representative matches in the past few seasons the association had lost money.

The annual report and balance-sheet were considered very satisfactory, it being stated that there was a credit balance of about £50, partly due to help from the Wellington Association, which had made the All-India team'.s visit to Otaki possible. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr. L. G. Lowry. M.P.; president Mr. H. Nicolson; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. D. and O. H. Howell, K. Davies T. Wehipeihana, J. Gillespie, G. Ruhdle, J. Fitzgerald, D. S. Mackenzie, J. McCaw, and F. Parker;- secretary, Mr. J. Porter; treasurer, Mr. H. Witchell; auditor, Mr. B. McAlister; delegate to Wellington Association, Mr. K. Falconer, failing his acceptance, Mr. S B. Browne; representative selectors, Messrs. Adsett and Ryder (men) and Mesdames Porter and Seal (ladies). Mr. H. Nicolson was appointed to represent the association at the conference of delegates to be held in Wellington. The Levin Club was given fermission to play Palmerston and eilding Clubs, Otaki to play Huia (Wellington), and Rahui to play St. Joseph's (Wellington). It was decided to hold a five-a-side tournament on April 29 at Levin. Prior to the meeting it was decided to revive the Referees' Association, which had been dormant since 1931.
