ESPERANTO CLUB
i The weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club was held last Monday evening in the. hall of tthe Tararua Tramping Club, Nathan's Building, Grey Street. Mr. Vernon J. Leek presided Correspondence was received from Esperanto Clubs and individual Esperantists in England; Scotland Ceylon Spain, France, Germany, U.S.S.R., ! Latvia, Yugoslavia, and Switzerland. After the enrolment of new members classes continued under the direction of Mr. Anton Vogt, club secretary, and !Mr. Bertram Potts. Conversation and reading groups were also formed. ' Instead of the customary Esperanto programme, a dance followed, m the course o£ which several presentations of Esperanto books were made by the president. The first was made to Mr. C H Phillips Mrs. Phillips, and Miss A' Phillips. "These three members were about to leave on a visit to England where they would attend the next British Esperanto Congress. To Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Hornblow was presented an Esperanto dictionary. It was announced that Mr. and Mrs. Hornblow were undertaking a tour of th^ world for twelve months. Mr. and Mrs. Hornblow will represent the New Zealand Esperanto Association at the Esperanto World Congress in Vienna next Aueust Presentations were also made to Messrs. Charles Cooch, V. Everingham, and F. Bailey, who are to be married. Mr. Bailey officiated as M C. and Mrsi ,E. B. Stewart played the piano. Extras were given by Miss E. Burt. During the evening a welcome was accorded to visiting Esperantists from Masterton. Mr. H. F. Franks, of the Masterton Esperanto group, responded in an entertaining Esperanto talk. ■ ' ' ■ ■ . . '
