The "Manchester Guardian's" political correspondent says that the defenci Ministers and the chiefs of staff of tha fighting services met four times during the past week and not only discussed re-armament plans but considered at length plans for co-ordinating defence.
It is believed that it has been decided to appoint a Minister to undertake this task. This does not involve the creation of a special Ministry. It is believed that co-ordination-and also mobilisation of industry for war may be attained by making a defence Minister chairman of the two existing subcommittees of Imperial defence. Mw Ramsay Mac Donald, who has had long experience in-presiding over the committee of Imperial defence, is favoured for the new position, which alternatively may be given to Sir Samuel Hoare if he is sufficiently restored to health.
