BRITAIN'S STAND
ADMIRED IN TURKEY
CONFIDENCE RESTORED
(Received December 23, 1.30 p.m.) ' LONDON, December 22. The Constantinople correspondent of "The Times" states that the Turks are greatly impressed and satisfied with Turkey's decision, in agreement with the other signatories to the Balkan Pact, to support Britain in the event of an Italian attack .on Britain in the' Mediterranean.
Turkish opinion from the outset has overwhelmingly, supported Abyssinia, especially in view of Turkey's suspicion that Italy harboured hostile designs towards Anatolia in Asia Minor.
. Brtain's firm stand in the dispute was warmly admired, and the appointment of Mr. Eden fully restores .Ottoman confidence in British uprightness. ;
