Considerable low cloud and some morning fog is probable in eastern districts. -Temperatures will >be warm. At present the weather, prospects for Christmas are favourable. V ■" ~ During the. weekend a very shallow disturbance moved across the Dominion and was the cause '.of moderate rain on the JVest Coast and oh the ranges of the South Island, wher.e also a few thunderstorms occurred. A little misty rain fell in, places elsewhere:in the South Island, but .otherwise the weather was fair to fine and warm. Pressure has since risen over the Dominion and the cyclone still located over the Tasmari Sea is almost stationary. North-easterly or variable winds have predominated over New Zealand, and their force has seldom' been more than moderate. There was fog this morning in parts of the Cook Strait: area, at ■ Dunedhv arid at the. Chatham. Islands. Clear: and fine weather; with warm temperatures prevailed in all the-"chief centres during the weekend. :'= •. •.'•'■ ■•'. . ' Auckland's winds have been variable and light with north-easterlies predominating. : ■ Wellington has had particularly fine and pleasant weather, with light winds and with, for the most part, clear skies. On Saturday it was. practically calm, and most of Sunday a moderate northerly or north-easterly breeze prevailed. It was foggy this morning with a light south-easterly breeze, but a clearance took place later on. In Christchurch also the weather has been clear aryl mild, a fresh northeasterly wind prevailing, most of the time. Similar conditions have prevailed in Dunedin, but with more cloud, and it I was foggy -there this morning.
