HANDS BOUND
BODY OF YOUNG MAN
NO MARKS OF VIOLENCE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, December 22. The body of a young man was discovered by a fisherman on Saturday morning on the north beach of the Taieri River, opposite the rock known as the Governor's Chimney. The body evidently had been in the water some time, ds it was badly decomposed.
The body was fully clothed, but thu hands were tied in front with a Handkerchief. It was later identified aa that of John Donald Souness, aged 2'a, farm hand, whose parents reside at Clydevale. The young man left horn« to come to Dunedin to exchange a motor-car for a motor-cycle.
Later he went to Christchurch and when he returned to the city he was seen by his mother. He was then in good health and spirits, but nothing further was heard of him till his body was found in the river.
There were no marks of violence on the body and foul play is nor suspected.
An inquest was opened before Mr. H. W. Bundle and adjourned sine die after evidence of identification was heard.
