CRICKET

VISIT OF M.C.C. TEAM

NEW ZEALAND SELECTORS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

The New Zealand Cricket Council announced today that the following selectors had been appointed to choose the New Zealand teams for the coming matches against the M.C.C. team: Messrs. H. B. Whitta, Canterbury (convener); N. C. Snedden, Auckland; T. C. Lowry. Rangitikei; and J. C. McMullan, Otago.

HUTT VALLEY MATCHES

DECISION TO POSTPONE

Mr. J. Boult, when suggesting at last night's meeting of the Hutt Valley Cricket Association that the association should postpone all matches on Saturday, December 21, on account of the M.C.C. v. Wellington match, said he thought that the Wellington Cricket Association would appreciate a postponement on that date in preference to the date allotted for the Test match to be played in Wellington. Mr. C. Wrack agreed with Mr. Boult's remarks concerning the choice of matches. It was almost impossible he said, to postpone the association's games on both dates, and he therefore was in favour of Mr. Boult's motion that in the event of the M.C.C. v Wellington match being played on December 21, all the association's matches should be postponed. Mr. Wrack made it clear that in the event of the match having to be postponed on that date all the H.V.C.A. Association's matches would be.played. The motion was carried.

The secretary, Mr. H. N. Jones, reported that Mr. J. T. Matthews had forwarded to him a set of caps which were to be given to the players chosen to represent the H.V.C.A. in its match with the Wellington Mercantile League. Mr. Matthews's generous gift was accepted with thanks, and a decision to have his services recorded in the minutes were unanimously agreed upon.

Through playing an unregistered player in their match with Central on Saturday, November 30, General M.o|ors were automatically debited with a three-point loss. I Mr. Jones reported that a miniature cup had been handed to him by an anonymous donor who had asked that thought fit awarded as the committee
