A LUCKY ESCAPE

THREE MEN IN A BALLOON

(Received December 11, 1 p.m.)

LONDON, December 10.

Instead of landing in Norway, where they were headed when they left Essen on Sunday in a distance race with eleven other balloons, three German balloonists descended near Louth, in Lincolnshire, after two nights and a day in an open-basket.

The balloonists, after nearly falling into the sea off the English coast, landed safely by moonlight in a cornfield a few miles inland. All were unhurt.
