BASLE; December 8.
At a meeting of governors of central banks, M. Tannery, Governor of the -Bank of France, said it had lost £80,000,000 since November..The vote in the Chamber of Deputies on Friday had completely changed the situation. It was not expected that the next bank statement would show a loss of more than £4,000,000. The crisis had again proved that the franc could not be shaken, but economic recovery had been seriously retarded. The gold cover had fallen only from 74 to 70 per cent.
